Rexton Hearing Aid Troubleshooting: Troubleshooting Guide

If your Rexton hearing aid is not turning on, try replacing the wax guard or cleaning the microphone and receiver. If that doesn’t work, check the battery or try resetting the hearing aid.

Another common issue with hearing aids is feeling blocked or plugged up. This can happen when the sound of your own voice or the sound emitted by the hearing aid itself can’t escape from inside the ear. To troubleshoot these problems and more, refer to the Rexton troubleshooting guide or watch YouTube tutorials for step-by-step instructions.

1. Understanding Hearing Aid Malfunctions

Clogged With Wax Or Debris

One of the most common reasons for a hearing aid to sound weak or stop working completely is that it becomes clogged with wax or debris. This can happen over time as the hearing aid is worn and used daily. If your hearing aid has a wax guard, you can try replacing it with a fresh one to see if that resolves the issue. Additionally, if you have a cleaning tool such as a brush or pick, it is recommended to clean both the microphone and receiver (speaker) to ensure they are free from any blockages. Taking care of your hearing aid and regularly cleaning it can help prevent this issue from occurring.

Dead Or Weak Sound

Experiencing dead or weak sounds from your hearing aid can be frustrating and affect your ability to hear clearly. There are a few possible reasons for this issue. As mentioned earlier, the hearing aid may be clogged with wax or debris, which can restrict the sound from being transmitted properly. Other potential causes include a low battery, a faulty receiver (speaker), or issues with the amplifier or sound processor of the hearing aid. In such cases, it is recommended to check the battery and replace it if necessary. If the issue persists, it may be best to consult with a hearing healthcare professional to diagnose and resolve the problem.

Blocked Feeling In The Ears

It is not uncommon to experience a blocked feeling in the ears when wearing hearing aids. This sensation can occur because the sound produced by the hearing aid, as well as the sound of our own voice, is unable to escape from inside the ear. If the hearing aid physically closes the ear, this sensation can be amplified. To alleviate this feeling, it is important to ensure that the hearing aid is fitted properly and that the settings are adjusted accordingly. If discomfort persists, it is recommended to consult with a hearing healthcare professional who can make the necessary adjustments or suggest alternative solutions to improve your comfort and overall experience with the hearing aids.

2. Cleaning And Maintenance Tips

Proper cleaning and maintenance of your Rexton hearing aids are crucial for ensuring optimal performance and longevity. By implementing the following cleaning and maintenance tips, you can avoid common issues and keep your hearing aids in top condition.

Replacing The Wax Guard

The wax guard is a small filter that helps prevent wax and debris from clogging the hearing aid receiver. Over time, the wax guard can become blocked, leading to reduced sound quality or even complete blockage. To replace the wax guard, follow these steps:

  1. Gently remove the old wax guard using a wax guard removal tool or tweezers.
  2. Insert a new wax guard into the designated slot, ensuring it is securely in place.
  3. If your hearing aid does not have a visible wax guard, consult the user manual or contact your hearing care professional for guidance on replacing the internal wax guard.

Cleaning The Microphone And Receiver

The microphone and receiver of your hearing aids can accumulate dirt, wax, and debris over time, which can affect sound quality. Regular cleaning can help prevent these issues. Follow these steps to clean the microphone and receiver:

  1. Using a soft, dry brush or cleaning tool provided with your hearing aids, gently brush the microphone and receiver to remove any visible debris.
  2. Inspect the microphone and receiver for wax or blockage. If necessary, use a wax pick or loop tool to carefully remove any accumulated wax.
  3. Do not use water, cleaning solutions, or alcohol-based products to clean the microphone and receiver, as they can damage the delicate components.

Proper Storage And Care

Proper storage and care of your hearing aids can significantly impact their performance and lifespan. Follow these guidelines to ensure proper storage and care:

  • When not in use, store your hearing aids in a protective case to prevent dust, moisture, and damage.
  • Avoid exposing your hearing aids to extreme temperatures, as it can damage the internal components.
  • Remove your hearing aids before showering, swimming, or engaging in any water-related activities. Moisture can damage the electronics.
  • Regularly check the battery compartment for any corrosion or debris. If necessary, clean it with a dry cloth or contact your hearing care professional for assistance.

By following these cleaning and maintenance tips, you can ensure that your Rexton hearing aids continue to provide you with clear and comfortable sound for years to come.

3. Troubleshooting Steps For Common Issues

When it comes to Rexton hearing aids, it’s not uncommon to encounter occasional issues. However, with a few troubleshooting steps, you can easily resolve common problems that may arise. In this section, we will discuss how to troubleshoot three common issues: hearing aids not turning on, poor sound quality, and feedback or whistling noises.

Hearing Aid Not Turning On

If your Rexton hearing aid isn’t turning on, there are a few things you can try:

  1. Check the battery: Ensure that the battery is properly inserted and correctly oriented. If the battery is dead, replace it with a fresh one.
  2. Reset the hearing aid: Consult the user manual for your specific Rexton hearing aid model to find the instructions on how to reset it. In most cases, removing and reinserting the battery can help reset the device.
  3. Clean the contacts: Over time, dirt and debris can accumulate on the battery contacts, preventing proper electrical connections. Use a clean, dry cloth or a soft brush to gently clean the contacts.

Poor Sound Quality

If you are experiencing poor sound quality with your Rexton hearing aid, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check the volume. Ensure that the volume is set at an appropriate level. It’s also important to check for any accidental volume adjustments.
  2. Clean the hearing aid: Wax and debris can build up on the microphone and receiver of your hearing aid, causing sound distortion. Use a cleaning tool provided with your hearing aid or a soft brush to remove any buildup.
  3. Replace wax guards: Some Rexton hearing aids come with wax guards to protect the device from wax accumulation. Check if your model has a wax guard and replace it if necessary.

Feedback Or Whistling Noises

If you hear feedback or whistling noises from your Rexton hearing aid, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Reposition the hearing aid: Ensure that the hearing aid is properly inserted in your ear and fits snugly. Adjust the position if needed to minimize feedback.
  2. Check for blockage: Sometimes, wax or debris can block the sound outlet of the hearing aid, causing feedback. Clean the sound outlet using a cleaning tool or a soft brush.
  3. Consult a professional. If the feedback issue persists, it’s advisable to contact your hearing care professional for further assistance.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you can often resolve common issues with your Rexton hearing aid. However, if the problem persists, it’s recommended to seek professional help to ensure proper functionality and performance.

  1. Hi….
I have the Rexton Adore hearing aids and my problem is that I just put in the charger to charge for the night and I am getting a full red light indicator on my the left side of the charger. What is wrong and should I take it back to my retail outlet to see if they can resolve it?

    Reply
    • It sounds like there might be an issue with your Rexton Adore hearing aid charger. A full red light indicator typically indicates that the device is fully charged or that there might be a malfunction with the charger itself.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue before taking it back to the retail outlet:

      • Check the Connections: Make sure the hearing aids are properly seated in the charger. Sometimes, poor contact between the hearing aids and the charging contacts can cause issues. Remove and reinsert the hearing aids into the charger to ensure a secure connection.
      • Reset the Charger: If possible, try resetting the charger by unplugging it from the power source for a few minutes, then plugging it back in. This can sometimes resolve minor issues with the charging system.
      • Inspect for Damage: Check both the charger and the hearing aids for any visible signs of damage or debris that may be interfering with the charging process. Clean the charging contacts on both the hearing aids and the charger with a dry cloth to remove any dirt or residue.
      • Try a Different Power Outlet: Plug the charger into a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.
      • Contact Customer Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it’s best to contact Rexton customer support or your retail outlet for further assistance. They may be able to provide additional troubleshooting steps or arrange for a replacement charger if necessary.

If you’re still under warranty or have a service agreement, the retail outlet should be able to help you resolve the issue or provide a replacement if needed.
